Junior Software Engineer

As a junior software engineer at OQC, you will join a team of physicists and software engineers developing software solutions. In this dynamic environment, you will work on novel engineering challenges to interact with cutting-edge superconducting quantum devices. You will be able to make full use of your problem solving and analytical skills to develop high-performance algorithms that take full advantage of OQC’s quantum hardware technologies.

Responsibilities

Quantum computers based on superconducting circuits are controlled via microwave frequency signals.  These signals must be produced on-the-fly by low latency digital signal processing hardware  You will be responsible for the development and maintenance of large-scale microwave synthesis and measurement systems:

 

  • Develop high-quality software in a novel field
  • Identify, prioritize and execute tasks in the software development life cycle
  • Collaborate with internal teams to create and improve software solutions for running quantum programs.

Skills Required

Quantum computers based on superconducting circuits are controlled via microwave frequency signals.  These signals must be produced on-the-fly by low latency digital signal processing hardware  You will be responsible for the development and maintenance of large-scale microwave synthesis and measurement systems:

 

  • 2 years or more of software development commercial experience or a holder of a PhD in computer science or Physics
  • Working knowledge of Python and scientific python libraries
  • Strong problem solving, troubleshooting and analysis skills
  • Strong fundamentals in computer science with a working knowledge of common data structures
  • Ability to work in team environment

Skills Desirable

  • Experience working with low-level device drivers or embedded software
  • Familiarity with a  systems programming language such as C/C++/Rust
  • A passion for new and emerging software engineering technologies
  • Experience working with low-level device drivers or embedded software
